Marathi – C.S.M.'s Arts & Commerce College, Chakan

This College is established in 1987 by Chakan Shikshan Mandal under the leadership of Yoddha Shetakari, Hon. Sharad Joshi. Marathi Department is started in 1993. The Department of Marathi is one of the oldest Departments of the College with the aims of promoting Marathi language & culture and also study of its history. During the period of three decades the department has remained the center of various literary & research activities. Several notable scholars & critiques are attached with the department as guest lecturers & past students. The Department has a good collection of old valuable manuscripts in our College Library.

The Department of Marathi aims at contributing to the all-round development of the students. The research activity is a significant aspect of the department. The thrust areas are medieval and modern literature, recent trends in Marathi literature and feminist studies. The faculty members are always busy in research activity. During the last three decades, the faculty members have several publications to their credit.

The development of the basic language skill- listening, speaking, reading and writing communication skills.
To help increase the understanding of ancient, medical, modern Indian and western ideas about literature and to increase the ability of deep study of Marathi literature
To increase the perception of thoughts and literary evaluation of the objectives of literature.
To promote a healthy outlook and right type of attitude among the rural tribal’s youths for total transformation of rural and tribal.
To create awareness among the students in the context of rural development poverty alleviation and programmes of social change.

Enhance the ability to understand language and literature as well as other aspects related to language and literature.

Lecture, Group Discussion, Class wise Seminar, Expert eminent guest lecture on current economic topic from other college as a resource person, lectures organized, Debating contest, poem contest, Essay Writing organizing by the Department of Marathi

Students are given facility of learning materials. Students are concealed through the advisory scheme that caters to the academic and emotional needs of the student.

Dr. Dilip Kasbe

M.A; B. Ed; Ph. D. and SET (Marathi), has been working as a Professor in Marathi and H. O. D. of Marathi Department. He is a recognised Ph. D. Supervisor (guide) of Savitribai Phule Pune University 2014. 1 student has completed his Ph. D. and 3 students are working under his guidance. He has attended a number of Seminars and Workshops. He has published 15 Research Articles in National and International Journals. He has delivered several lectures on a number of subjects at various colleges and social platforms, such as Rotary club and N. S. S. Camps. He has worked as a Subject Expert, Member of Syllabus Structure Committee and Ph. D. selection committee. He has a special skills in Acting, Singing and Playing musical instruments- Flute and Harmonium.

Dr. Shivaji Endait

M. A., Ph. D., SET (Marathi), has been working as an Associate Professor in Marathi. He is a recognized Post Graduate Teacher and Research Guide for Ph. D. at Savitribai Phule Pune University. Presently, 3 students are working under his guidance. He has presented research papers in many seminars on Marathi subject held at University level, State level and National level. He has published 14 research papers in various National and International journals. He has delivered a number of lectures at various Educational and Social platforms. He has worked as a member of the Examination Committee of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

We organise various programmes, such as Seminars, Symposia, lectures under Quality Development Policy of Savitribai Phule Pune University, etc. for the students. Audio-visual Programmes on Poetry Presentation. We organise on-screen Marathi Dramas with ICT tools at Smart Classroom of the College. We also arrange the programme of visiting a theatre and have live experience of the renowned Marathi Dramas.
